Hi there
I am trading my semi truck and some cash for a 1976 Trans Am.
I don't know much about them and want to make sure there are no issues
with what this car is.
I am including a couple pics and the text from and email of the owner.
Can you guys check this out and let me know how valid it all sounds?
Also wondering how valuable/rare a car like this would be. I will likely just
re-sell it if I make the deal.
Thanks everyone!!
My car is a 1976 Trans Am. 400 big block auto. its all original except for headers n 2 n a half inch exhaust. Its bin painted once in 1996. Its a rare color you could only get two years on the trans am's called carousel red. Its the same color as the judge GTO. I have two sets of wheels the original rally2s and polished center lines. Car has power windows tilt. 308 posi rear end with the WS6 suspension package. It has about 3grand woth of alpine stereo. I drive it only on nice days mostly to car shows n cruzes. The car is a driver It runs n drives like new. Always turns heads. Attached is a pic ill send a couple there just off my phone not the greatest. I would be interested in trading the car n mabe some cash for your truck

check www.collectorcarmarket.com for price, check the engine code to make sure it's the original correct engine, does he have any original documentation? check the color code on the engine compartment plate to see what color the factory painted it.

Looks pretty good in the pics, but I second doing what Mel says before buying.

I have a friend that owns a trucking company and his non running semi's are worth a lot more than most big window F bodies. That one is going to have to be in really good condition to be worth a trade and cash. I would not do it sight unseen as the photos do not all look to be current.

Check all the rust prone areas very well. See if you can get the car on a lift or if the owner will put it up on jackstands. Examine the rear frame rails, the trunk floor, the floor boards, the trunk extensions, cross rail and tail panel(our cars have 2 piece tail panels where the cross rail runs closest to the fuel tank and loves to rot out; bottoms of doors; bottoms of front fenders. Run the motor and listen to it carefully; etc etc.
the car should be immaculate for the price the seller wants IMO. Everything should be new or restored with minor things to be completed. Make sure to check the VIN plate and cowl tag too
