Can a Chevy BB 496ci fit in a 68 Firebird?

I would like to know if a Chevy BB 496ci will fit in a 68 firebird that originally had a 455HO engine (numbers dont match)? I have two options, I can modify the 455HO (edelbrock heads, stroker kit-Eagle, new camshaft, rockers, edelbrock intake, Holley Carb, hydraulic rollers, bored .30 over that will probably run me $6000 or buy a Chevy BB 496ci/480HP/ 550TQ crate engine already dyno tested for $6500.
Also if I buy the Chevy crate engine, do I have to modify the engine mounts on the firebird or will it be a direct fit. The 68 Firebird and 68 Camaro are the same F-body type.
 
I think most likely you will have to modify the motor mounts. I think you'll also have to consider getting a cowl hood to fit it all in there.
