Can you switch out ignitions with a firebird and a camaro?

If you know any website or anything about this stuff please let me know. My friend thinks he is a super genius on this and he isn't even a mechanic. I think he is going to end up screwing the cars up...
okay, he is wanting to take the ignition out of the firebird and use if for the camaro... What all could he mess up if he did this?

What do you mean by ignitions? Are you talking about the lock assemlby on the steering column or the engine distributor, etc?
