Cant figure this one out

Hi

My son just purchased an 02 Grand Am gt, v6 with 67K on it. Only issue were having is the service engine soon light comes on when he goes on the highway or takes a turn? I've gone to a few local mechanics that have reset the warning but it comes back all the time..

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

why arent the mechanics telling you what code the computer is throwing and fixing it?

take the car to autozone or similar parts chain when the light is on. They do free scans. Here is a link to the owners manual

Are you 100% sure it's not a service vehicle soon light? That would be something like a burnt out headlamp.

I have a 2003 Grand Am with 115K miles that the service engine soon light recently came on and he is correct that there is no code. I have a reader and also took it to Advance Auto and neither reader shows any codes. I believe it is related to some sort of service interval but not sure what. It is not related to the oil change reminder since I have reset that many times before. I have a factory service manual (2 volumes thousands of pages) and I can't find it in there either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My Service Engine Soon light will come on for a month, then go away out of the blue.. Then out of the blue, it's back. I took it to a mechanic and he said it looks like the catalytic converter is aftermarket and was installed incorrectly.
