This light is short for "Low Traction"....it comes on when the ABS hub sensors in your front wheels detect the tires spinning. This light also means the throttle will be temporarily disengaged/lightened and the ABS will go on "high alert". It's meant to keep you safe basically.
If the light is staying on for long period of time on dry pavement you may have a failing ABS hub or speed sensor. This is common in all late model GM vehicles equipped with traction control. If this is the case it will eventually cause the ABS to activate at random when braking (very dangerous) and may also cause the throttle to act a bit funny. If this is not the case it's merely the traction system doing what it was meant to do, nothing to worry about!
If you suspect a problem with the system expect to pay between $90 and $250 per malfunctioning hub. There are only 2 on your vehicle that could cause a problem!
