I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am that has a standard transmission and a 4 cylinder 2.4 L engine. When I start it up it runs fine for about 30 seconds until I put it in gear and try to drive it. As soon as I put it in gear it will drive find for about 50 feet before it starts running rough and tries to die. If I keep on the gas I can limp it around but the engine just keeps trying to die even when it's in neutral. When it does die it will start right back up with no trouble but after 10 or 15 seconds it starts doing it again.

We replaced the front oxygen sensor today and it seems a little better, might be my imagination, but it's still far from right.

Also, It was running fine last Saturday when I drove it the gaucherie store and to my sisters. It was raining but not hard and it wasn't flooding. I parked it that night and it was running fine, we didn't touch it Sunday but when my mom got in it to go to work yesterday it started doing this all the sudden.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Sounds like a plugged/dirty fuel filter, or worn fuel pump.
Do you tend to run it really low on gas?
Or have you run out a couple times in the past?

The gas in the tank lubricates it, and keeps the pump in the tank from overheating.
