Chrome center cap removal

Hi guys,

It's tire rotation time, can anyone tell me how to remove the wheel center caps without damaging them?...also the lugnuts unloosen only to a certain point then just spin...is this normal?...Thanks!

are you sure they arent plastic caps over the metal nut? you remove the center cap once you have the wheel off from behind the wheel. It may be a good idea to pick up a copy of the owners manual on E-Bay

The previous owner couldn't find the car's manual so I downloaded a pdf. version online...no help.


Here is a pic of the plastic cap...note the tabs on the bottom...they lock BEHIND the center cap preventing them from falling of or being removed...never saw caps like this before...after backing it off all the way I used a taped up screwdriverI to pry it off...the car's tires are new so I wonder how the tire shop removed them without damage.

Did you look at page 5-70 of the owners manual, it tells you the nuts stay on the center cap, you are not supposed to pry them off. Is that the cover you have in the picture on page 5-70?
