Hi everyone me again lol. I could use some assistance with fixing my climate controls as it blows on to the floor and i cant redirect it. I currently have the lower ducting off and have been looking through the vacuum lines and am not seeing what the problem could be. I don't know if the lines are cut or not run correctly or if components are broken or if its due to lines connecting to the engine itself as there are many lines that were disconnected and or plugged or just don't seem to me to make much sense as I'm not really knowledgeable on how it should be. and coming up on winter i at least would like to get it to defrost to get me through the cold. Any suggestions would be helpful, Thanks.

Do you have a copy of the 1972 Pontiac Service manual?
It clearly explains how everything works and includes vacuum diagrams.
Without seeing your car it is impossible to tell you what is or is not correct.
There is only one line from the engine that supplies vacuum to the HVAC system.

I have two books and neither cover them in enough depth to figure things out

one thing i would like to know is should the cluster of vacuum lines that connect to the back of the controls going into the select lever valve be pulling a vacuum because mine isn't

You should have a vacuum line coming off the back of the intake manifold or carburetor supplying vacuum to the control head.
Is either one of the books the factory service manual?

Did you look at the diagram in post #6?
It shows port 1 connected to engine vacuum and the rest depend on the settings in the chart below the diagram.

i did see it the problem is the colors don't match up and i have no idea what I'm doing. I don't know what should make the doors actuate cause currently they do nothing and in completely at a loss

You cannt see which hose goes to port 1 on the control and trace it back to the engine compartment through the firewall?

And two others go to the vacuum globes and another goes to a canister

With the engine running do you feel suction at the hose connected to port 1?
With temperature set to hot and control set to floor do you have suction at the hose connected to the heater valve?

Did you check if the line from the carb is blocked or broken?

there is a splice in it but it doesnt seem to be leaking but its a tad confusing cause the line is purple like the one going to the the 3 position on the temp lever valve as it comes out of the firewall then for the last few inches its black and the two black wires inside are going to the vacuum globe

Really don't know what more I can tell you. Gave you the 71 diagram and you should get the correct 72 manual for your car.

I figured out that the two of the lines were in the opposite position so I have vacuum on the 1 position but nothing is happening and I think it has to do with a leak in select lever valve do you know where I can get on I haven't been able to find one.

Have you tried Ames Performance, Frankspontiacparts.com, OPGI and ebay

I found some on ebay but not for my specific car and I don't know what kind of interchangeability there is between them
