Anyone ever torn their center console apart to replace the bulbs? Tough job or fairly straight forward and simple? The fan speed illumination being out drives me nuts, and it's not even MY daily driver, it's my fiancee's Also, I think I have a bulb out at the left side of the gear selection indicator.

Sorry it's a little blurry.

Not sure but my temperature adjuster (the center dial) is not illuminated, and I'm getting ready to rip into the dash and fix the heater actuator door, so I guess I'll find out!

Ha...I had to double check to make sure I didn't post this...My fiance's '06 has the exact same light out.
Has either of you fixed it yet?

No sir, have not torn into it yet. Still working on keeping my 97 Grandprix barely alive while I finish putting my cammed 2005 GMC Jimmy 4x4 4.3L 5 speed manual back on the road. Once my Jimmy is back up an running, I will look into the torrent. Torrent also needs a drivers rear wheel bearing and a hanger bearing.

Lots of work ahead of me.

ok. Hopefully the light replacement is easier than the hub bearings. I did the driver side last summer with a mechanic friend of mine and it was BRUTAL to get out...I am dreading having to do the passenger side...luckily mine's at 108,xxx kms and still ok.

So, How did it go? My wife's '06 Torrent has same lights out on the fan speed knob. I read into it a while back and it seemed like they were small bulbs that would require soldering. Wasn't worth that to me. However, we also have half our speedo out (the >70mph side, like that car needs that side of the dial! Ha!).

To be honest, I have not yet pulled it to change the bulbs. It needs more pressing issues fixed, like control arm bushings and sway bar end links.
