I just installed a new convertible top switch and it has been awhile since removing it, does anyone know if the black wire is the power lead? I see no connection between the battery and this switch. I was sure the black wire was hooked to ground but now I'm not so sure. If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it.

use a test light or a voltmeter to determine if the wire is hot

Nothing is hooked to a power source. I am going to take the black wire which now I believe is the power lead and connect it to my block that says fusible link which is the only thing on my firewall that resembles the power top junction block. Thanks for your input.

You dont have the 1966 factory service manual? If you dont and intend to keep the car it's worth buying.
I have the 1970 and it show the switch as having three wires, the black goes to a power takeoff at the fuse box and a red and dark green going to the body harness
