Hallo
My 1965 Le Mans is nearly complete after restoration. Now the car is at a Convertible Top Dealer to get a new top.
The one he ordered for my 65 does not fit he told me. He wants to convince me to believe that I have a 1966 Convertible Top on my 1965 car. And so he ordered a 1966 Top and that really fits.
Now the VIN Decoder says, my car was built in the third week of August in 1965.
Is it possible that Pontiac puts in a 66 Version of the Top into a 65 car?
And if not, is it generally possible?

Greetings from Germany

Thilo

that is a very late date for a 1965 car. Anything is possible including the original 1965 top was replaced by a dealer using a 1966 or 1967 top under warranty.

Post some pictures of your car, that way we can tell if it is a 65 or a 66 model year. Aug 1965 should be an early production 1966 car. I have seen the title be incorrect on many older used cars.
Ad in your location and just about anything is possible. People do many strange things to cars from other parts of the world to keep them running. I bought a 73 Lemans wagon that had been exported to Hamburg Germany when new. When Built it had 3.55 rear gears, by the time I bought it they had been replaced with 3.23 gears, and the 4-speed shifter linkage had the levers upside down making me think that 2nd and 4th gear syncro's were bad. I was really starting out in 2nd and when I thought I was shifting into 2nd it was really 1st gear, same with 3rd and 4th gears.
