After installing new water pump gasket, I have a coolant leak behind the pump above the timing cover. Can’t tell where it’s coming from . Seams to be from under the alternator where it starts and overnight that area between the timing cover and intake is filled with coolant..any information on this issue would be highly appreciated.

Did you look at the front on the intake where the long bolt is attached and a large O ring is used connecting to the timing cover?

Are u referring to this bolt with the little lock thing on it?

Yes, isnt that the source of the leak?

That area is usually caused by the seal that melsg5 has mentioned, common Pontiac engine leak issue.
Did you remove that bolt?

If it is the issue to correct it you will have to removed either the intake manifold, or the timing cover to replace it. Also the trick to seal it properly is to put the intake manifold on, keep all the intake bolts loose, then torque that bolt 1st to draw the intake manifold forward to seal on the timing cover. Then torque the intake bolts.

Good luck
