Hello all,
I have a 96 Sunfire 2.2 liter and I just got done replacing the cylinder head and gasket.
Engine fired right up and sounds good. (at least theres no abnormal noises)
I let the engine warm up, within a few minutes of running, the cooling fan came on and it stays on.
I also noticed there is a check engine light on.
I've been reading through post's here that the fan is controlled by the PCM and that certain codes could turn the fan on until the problem is fixed. Is that correct?
I haven't checked for codes yet, just got it together last night. I'll probably have to take it to Autozone or someone that has a code checker.
I don't believe the problem existed before, but the engine was overheating pretty badly before. That's why I opted to just replace the head.
How do you clear the codes from the computer? Disconnect battery? or is there a different procedure.
