Hi folks,

New to the forum here, glad I found it!

I'm getting ready to change my crank shaft seal tomorrow, and am renting an impact wrench to get that sucker off. I was curious if anyone knows what to expect as I head into this.

From what I understand, the best way to access the pulley is to take off the passenger side wheel and get to the crank shaft pulley from the wheel well.

Any special tools I may need-- aside from the normal stuff?

Thanks for the help!

Chris

a few pointers...
1) use a pulley extractor tool
2) clean any debris from the shaft and block/seal surface before reinstalling (a soft wire brush does the job)
3) make sure to install the seal evenly (some mechs use a large socket that distributes insertion forces evenly when installing (never install a seal unevenly as it will fail prematurely)
best of luck to you, not a complicated job but must be done correctly
cheers!

I was able to install the seal and get everything back together again. I'm not losing oil as I was, but am noticing a few drips of oil still leaking. I'm wondering if I need to replace the rear crankshaft seal now, but am not sure where that is located, and how hard of a job that is.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
