I just purchased a 2003 Montana and drove it approximately 500km. Seemed to be a nice smooth comfortable ride. That said near the end of my trip, there was a loud wind noise /howl coming from the rear end. It sounded like it was from the roof. The noise is Speed related as it disappears below 80 kph. Anyone know if the factory cross bars make any wind noise on this vehicle. If they are a problem how do you remove them as the manual only shows how to slide them around.

I drive a service van and what you're describing sounds like wind noise. We'll fill the rungs of our extension ladders with foam insulation (such as Great Stuff) and it quiets them down quite a bit. Not sure how to take the rack off of your Montana, though, but if you can get the rungs apart, that might be the cure if you figure it out.

make sure the cross bars are tight and far apart,I have had 2 montana's and they really don't make the wind noise that you describe, however from time to time my 03 does make it when the wind blows a certain way. To try to give you a better idea of when it does make the sound it's probably only 1% of the time or less.

I've seperated the bars further apart + the temperature has gone up and so far no noise. Thanks for the posts!
