cruise control help

ok i am still fixing problems on my 01 SE the cruise control on/off button will lock down, but no light comes on, either on the switch or in the panel. my manual shows three fuses for the cruise, and all three check good. is there any way to take the switch apart without having to pull the steering wheel ? i looked at the wheel and didnt really see what holds the air bag assembly in place
