Custom trunk release

Is there any way that i can hook up to a constant power supply, hook that up to a switch, and hook the switch up to the power trunk release (the one that would release the trunk when you hit the button on the key fob)? i think it would be cool to have a custom push button put in that releases the trunk. but i also want it to be something that i can do myself. whats my best bet..?

did you look in the owners manual, page 2-12? There should already be a lever next to the drivers seat to release the trunk

A little lost at exactly what your trying to do. My 99 GT does not have the trunk release latch but it pops up with the key FOB are you looking for that or for a button inside the car?

melsg5, there is no trunk release by the driver seat on the floor in the 2000 gt... no trunk release in the car at all. only the key fob, or the key

Toogoofy, im looking at putting a button in the car. custom. and wondering if there is a way that i can hook that button up to the trunk popping motor in the trunk..

Seems you should be able to splice it into the wiring for the motor and the key fob. Haven't pulled out the chilton though to get a look at exactly which wire that would be. Don't think it would be that hard though!
