ok so im working on a friends 98 sunfire 2.2liter. i replaced the head gasket on the car, got the head resurfaced with new valve stems. the car was sitting there for two years because of the head gasket . finally got the car running and im getting a misfire on cylinder no .1 . ia swapped the fuel injectors with from another cylinder , still misfiring. got my hands on another ignition module including the coil packs, still misfiring. found the fuel pressure below specs, change the fuel pump/filter with new fuel and still misfiring. im getting good compression on all four cylinders 160-167 psi. it only misfires at idle and it goes away once the idle is raised. swapped the spark plug and wires and still misfiring. i rechecked my work and swapped the rocker arms and lifters from that cylinder with another one and torqued at specs. still no
luck. only thing i can think of is the exhaust valve is not opening all the way because it is burning the fuel and the compression is good. im just out of ideas and i got the head resurfaced.

... soon cylinder 4 will go too that is all i have to say,

check the intake gasket around the #1 cylinders, a vacuum leak will do that.
