Newbie here. First post. I have a 99 Sunfire, 2.4 w AT/ loaded. I just changed the ignition switch and followed all the instructions concerning this. After Anti-theft reset, the car ran great. But... In putting back the plastic steering covers, I unhooked the ignition switch and removed thinking the Hat went outside the cover. In removing the switch, I forgot to unhook the battery. After plugging back the switch electronics, the car chimed for a few seconds and the electrical system went dead. Visually checked all the main fuses still no power. At a loss on what I could have done to it. Does anybody have any knowledge on this issue on what to do and possible problem?

you didnt state why you changed the switch?
do you have voltmeter and test for power at the switch?
are you stating you have have no light also?
take a closer look at the fuses and try an ohm meter.
no chance you have loose battery cables?

Changed switch due to lost key and a friend tried to remove switch and messed it up. Replaced ignition switch from another Sunfire I have as a parts car. Battery is ok. No lights at all, gauges don't work.
I don't have a volt/ohm meter handy to test for voltage and ohms out fuses etc.

Thought that there may be a fusible link somewhere I haven't found yet. Still at a loss.

follow the battery + wire coming off the alternator to the link. I know you said you checked it but since you had the battery cables disconnected double check that they are tight and clean.
