I posted yesterday, but I posted on the sunbird forum by mistake. Could anyone please tell me if the 2.2l ecotec motor is an interference motor if the timing chain goes? Thanks so much.

I am not sure if the chain actually broke. It started and was really noisy, so I shut it off and started it again. When I restarted it, it sounded like the starter was engaging but not all the time, as if it were skipping and catching, and then it wouldn't start at all. Now the starter turns the crank, but it sounds so effortless, as if there isn't any compression. I talked to a service advisor and he suggested that I just get a motor from the wreckers, he said it would probably end up being cheaper.
