How to set up the dic mine only has dashes on the display
 
There is no set up.
Did you just buy this vehicle?
What year is it?
Do you have the owners manual?
 
No, I have had it a few years. it is a 1999 Pontiac Montana. I don’t have the owners manual but can access it on the internet
 
If the lights are coming on would that not mean there are no blown fuses? It’s just not telling the numbers only has dashes where numbers should be ie number of miles till empty just dashes
 
if all the functions are not working there is something wrong that requires a diagnostic devise to be connected to the car to determine what the cause is. It could be the screen, the BCM or wiring to name a few causes.
 
Ok thanks I will try to find some where to get that done I guess I have bought two others at junk yards and they do not even come on but this one does at lease have lights so I guess I am headed in the right direction thanks for your input
 
I was hoping there was some way to just reset it

if there is it would be a dealer using a tech II or lap top with the appropriate software
 
you can try blowing a can of compressed air into the CD slot in case the lens has dirt on it.
