Do rear license plate lights exist on a 1997 Pontiac Firebird?

I was pulled over tonight for not having a light above my rear license plate - fortunately, I was not ticketed. I checked the car and could not find where a bulb could be installed. I checked my owner's manual as well as the internet and was unable to find anything related to a light. lamp or bulb above the rear license plate. The officer was nice and even stated that he was a mechanic and knows that all cars must have this feature. Does anyone know if this is true for a 1997 Pontiac Firebird? Thanks!

It's there.. the only thing I can think of it may have been broken out of the bumper cover
by a previous accident or minor collison you can get a replacement from your pontiac dealer , they will be able to tell you if it's still there or not ..

Yes, or they may have burned out, mine did on my old 91...
