Do the 3400 Engines on the Pontiac Montana have Intake Valve Problems Like...

...I've Heard ? I am looking at a 2000 Pontiac Montana with 152,000 miles on it. It has a perfect leather interior with not rust inside or out. I've heard that the 3400 engines that are in these vans as well as the Pontiac Transport and Chevy Ventures have severe problems with the intake valve manifold leaking and destroying the engine. The dealer has taken my offer for $3,000.00 but I am leary of all the things I have heard about the engine troubles these vans have. Can anyone comment on it ? Thanks !

It's not the intake valve, it's the intake manifold gaskets. I'd have them replace them if they can't show you that they've been replaced. Then buy the van for $3000.
