Does anyone know what would cause the ABS light in my Pontiac Montana to come on and engage the

parking brake? The ABS light came on, then the rear wheels locked up while I was driving. The emergency brake was not engaged. I shut the van off, then engaged and released the e-brake. That worked, then it happened again a week later. Please help.

You need to take it to a reputable repair facility and get it scanned. This will pinpoint the problem.

That should not be able to happen ... it sounds like the parking brake may be malfunctioning..
the ABS system should not lock up any thing it just modulates pressure in the system and cant apply the brakes by itself..
unless the solinoid is stuck and causing the pump to apply when it should be off.. (which I have never heard of) I would be willing to bet you have an issue with the rear breaks themselves, possibly wear or broken parts causing engagement of the pads when moving .. at any rate you need to have it inspected by someone who knows the systems as any lockup situation can cause an accident...
