I've owned my 2008 Pontiac Torrent Base for just about a year and recently noticed the dome lights don't come on when a door is opened. They have power since they work when you push on them to turn them on as map lights. I swear they used to come on when you opened the doors. There is nothing in the owner's manual about this other than a mention that some models may have a switch on the dome light assembly for the door position. I've looked around to see if there is a interior light switch somewhere but have not found anything. Am I missing something? Don't the interior lights above the front seats and the one back above the rear hatch area come on when a door or the rear hatch is opened? I don't see any door switches either like every other GM vehicle I've owned going back to the 60's had. What am I missing?

Does the radio turn off when you open the drivers door?
The switch is part of the door latch.
You see no position switch on the dome light, Off, Door, On?

The dome lamp is separate from the map lights from my reading of the owners manual.
Are you saying you do Not have a separate dome lamp?

I just went out and looked at it. There is a separate dome lamp but there is no switch. It looks like it has been replaced at some point judging by a mark on the headliner. I'll look on e-bay and see if anyone has a dome lamp assembly available and see what it looks like. Hopefully someone didn't cobble up the wiring.

I was able to get the correct dome light assembly from a salvage yard! I plugged it in and all is working as it should! Thank you for replying.
