i just acquired an 84 fiero with 85k miles on it. A few issues with it though. The door locks seem to not be very.....usable. They seem to be pushed too far into the door. I can hardly get the key in the drivers side and the passenger i can get it in for the most part but its pretty tight and i feel like im gonna ruin the key by using it.

I know where to get new locks at. I found a set for $20. My question is, is there anyways i can fix this easily without getting new locks? Why are the locks pushed in the door like that?

Most likely someone at some point changed them and used the generic/universal GM aftermarket replacements. These fit but the face is flush with the door frame where original Fiero door locks and the vehicle specific replacements stick out to make the face flush with the door trim.

Make sure the ones you buy are vehicle specific and not Generic/Universal.

The Fiero Store sells lock sets that are all keyed the same (doors and decklid)
their website is: www.fierostore.com

The key going in tightly may just be dirt and grime in the lock, Try spraying some silicone spray or lock-eze in the lock.
