I've started to try and find trim moulding clips, but I am striking out. I know that a body manual exists for $20, but have been too tight to buy one. The correct clip part number is likely in there and would help a Google search. The clips looked glued into a hole in the body panel and have somewhat of an "S" shape. I'm not sure what the correct removal procedure is. I broke one, but all are brittle. There is also a thin leg coming off of one side. What does that do? Sorry no picture (yet). The long dimension is 1 3/16" and I'm not sure of the width. The chrome package also includes a 1/2" trim piece at the top of thr rear fenders. I guess I'll be looking for those clips next. Anybody wrestled with this quest, yet?

Body manuals do not have part numbers. Pontiac had a separate parts book which may still be available as a reproduction. I could try finding it in the book but nowhere in your posts do you say what year car you have. Have you looked in the catalogue at www.amesperf.com ? Have you gone to a local auto body supply store, they may still carry them.

Sorry - 1963 four door. I've thought about the body shop hunt and thought they would have a source or effective equivalent. Trying to use the forum to its best advantage! Thanks for the input! I've only just begun the hunt. I am in the country and visiting multiple body shops won't happen today. I will try to upload a photo sometime soon, so that others might have fun identifying the clip and how it is best installed/removed. Looks like it is designed to be twisted into place. We'll see!

You misunderstood my comment, not bodyshops, I meant the specialized supply stores they buy their paint and other supplies from including items like clips. To look in the parts book I need a specific example of what body moulding you are taling about, on a fender, door , quarter panel, etc.

Catalina Moulding Clips

I'm tuned in enough to know that knocking on body shop doors would be tough, but these clips are in a dusty box in someones old shop. We better stick with The Internet! I have a picture (if I can load it). The moulding is part of the waistband of the entire car. Both front/rear panels and all doors. There are probably different trim packages. This car is a Ventura and included smaller trim on the top of the fenders, as well.

Moulding Clips

Thanks for your enthusiasm! I thought you might get some help from others in the forum! I did email and send the same picture to a place called justclipps.com, but didn't get a reply. They had an image of very similar clips and I thought I had scored. Maybe they will get to me tomorrow. Looking at the car, I think the end clips to each trim piece are a bit different. I clicked the link you provided, but didn't get any images. I'll try the site.

I would call Dynacorn and ask if those clips can be used on your car, maybe they can provide the measurements and whether there is a peg on the back to insert into the holes in the sheetmetal. Most of the people on this forum do not deal with cars from the 60's 70's or even the 80's.

Yep - I guess older cars have more specialized forums. I've seen others but can't juggle many at one time. I have participated in Triumph motorcycle forums, Model Rocketry, Jeep and even Honda Scooters! Good info out there, but hard to be everywhere at once. The Catalina is fun, nice and deserves to live, but I don't plan on freaking out with it. I could have the same fun with the Ferrari kit for a Fiero that shows up on Craigslist from time to time. Must be some of those guys here!

Good News! justclippsauto checked in and I think they will be a great source for these sorts of things. I plan on double checking my trim size and clip requirements and will put in an order today!

Excellant! I know how frustrating it can be to source parts for older cars.
