Driver side axel replacement

Hope all is well. Has anyone ever replace driver side axel on 90-92 sunbird GT? Having a hard time putting the Axel back into the shaft? Any tips or help? Thanks

What do you mean? Axle pops into the trans first, then the outer end into the knuckle......

Hey! Thanks for you’re response.. The Axel I bought from AutoZone is to short by a few inches.. Found I need an remanufactured one..
