i can turn off the drl lights on my torrent. My equinox has similar stalk but I cannot do that. Not sure if 07 equinoxes have same stalk as torrent. Any idea why they gave you the ability to turn off the lights?

How do you turn off the DRL in the Torrent? Owners manual makes no reference to that feature.

Left stalk, turn signal? You turn knob end “Clockwise” to turn on headlights. Turn CCW to turn off lights. And it has 1 more click to turn off drl. I get in suv, start motor, lights click on. Turn knob CCW and drl goes off. Thought it was standard? On 07 and newer? Changing the shaft/asy seems easy. I was going to see if an 07 module will work in my 06 equinox.
my 06 nox stalk will not turn CCW To the drl “off” position

Check gmpartsdirect.com to see if Chevy and Pontiac use the same part numbers.

Nope. 06 part is different then 07. As you might expect. As you can turn the 07.
so you are saying you have been in an 07 and did not notice this feature?

No, my only reference was to look in the online owners manual for the 2007 Torrent .

I have looked at several 07 torrents and equinoxes in the junkyard and they all seem To have the same MFS or multifunction stalk. The 06 switch cannot turn the lights off. The 07 can. So, my 07 torrent does let me switch off the lights and I have never looked in manual. You might ask, why turn them off? I want to be stealthy.

manual says DRL is on when headlights are set to auto. And they are reduced power. During the day. They will go to full brightness when systems detects it is dark enough. So, if I start car in garage, they will go to full power since it is dark. And when I drive it will switch to lower power, ala DRL, during the day. It says nothing about the off position. The circle/line is the default for off if you do any schematic design.
the MFS default position is auto. It is spring loaded so it sits at the auto position at all times. You can turn it to off when motor is running and lights will go off. manual says nothing about that.

My 2006 torrent awd does not operate the DRL in the day. If I set the knob to auto, it will flash the signal at the indicator dash board and the lights will come on both the headlamps, the parking lamps and the rear lights. When it gets brighter outside the lights will go off completely. How do I activate the DRL pls

There is no on off switch for DRL when you are set for Auto.
Did you just buy this vehicle or it is a new problem?
If you just bought it can you ask the seller if they did anything to the DRL?

The DRL are the headlights on low. Page 3-14 of owners manual explains the DRL. If you dont have a hard copy you can download for free from a site such as gm.com .
