Vehicle is an '84 Fiero. Does have power locks and windows. Problem started a few months back when the dash lights no longer worked. Replaced the fuse, it kept popping. Took the cluster out, but I couldn't seem to find any shorts. Now, if the thing sits for one night, the battery is dead. I tried to charge it and run it for a bit, then turn it off and use my multi-meter on the back-side of the fuses to find the culprit. No luck, all read 0.0. I have no cluse where else the issue might be coming from. The dash lights still pop fuses after a day or two, but the battery will drain with that fuse blown, so I'm thinking this is two different problems. Any "common" things to look for?? thanks for any and all help!!

New battery, car starts right up and alternator charges correctly. Still no dash lights. On a side note, once it started, I let it run for a bit and it was kinda rough, spitting out a good bit of white smoke. I open the throttle some, and it sputtered and died. Re-cranked, fired again, but still smoke, and when the throttle is opened, it pours out even more. I'm thinking the headgasket may have gone, letting coolant into the cylinders somehow, the only thing is, it doesn't appear to be a single cylinder, as it's not pulsing, but a constant stream of white. Thoughts? Cares? anything?

sounds like a coolant leak. could also be a blown ring letting oil into the cylinder. in recomend a tear down to inspect it.
