Today we pulled all the seats and carpet out of our 2001 Pontiac Montana to replace it with better and cleaner pieces.

I disconnected the battery to keep from killing it, and to not upset the air bags.

Reconnected the battery and it drove fine, but when trying to get on the freeway it had basically no power and then the SES light started to blink - as soon as I let off the gas, it stopped flashing,. If I gave it more throttle it would hesitate badly and the light would flash again.

Just sitting in park, it won't rev much past 2k rpms unless I lightly rev it, if I floored it would hit the park rev limiter and then die and wouidlmt go past 2k rpms unless I was light on the throttle. I disconnected the mass air flow sensor, it revved fine and wouldn't die if I tried to full throttle it, even holding it.

Is my MAF bad? What else would cause this issue? Van was running fine (well more drivable) before I disconnected the battery

you would need the computer scanned for the code causing the SES to flash. The MAF disconnect improvement points to the MAF but it also could be the computer has to relearn.

I will disconnect battery and let it run again. I might also clean the MAF and cheap the air filter. How long should I let it run before I drive it?

you have to drive it for it to relearn

I tried that, Still didn't work. Cleaned the MAF, didn't work. Disconnecting the MAF it runs and drives perfectly fine and goes up to 75mph (Freeway speed here) no problem and doesn't spit and spudder. Going to get a new MAF and see if that fixes it.
