My emergency signal switch is broken. On the switch it says "SIGNAL-STAT 170 12V FLASHER" . . . This is for a 1968 Pontiac Lemans 350 5.7L 2bbl. I can find on e-bay the same switch but the notes one ebay say its for a 1966 corvette - the ones one e-bay say the exact same thing on the switch. Can I use the one for the corvette, do I need to use the exact same switch but for a lemans, or is there something else I can use? Thanks . . . JIMB

If the markings are the same and prongs are the same you can use it. You state switch above but I assume you mean the flasher, small metal can with prongs on one end. Are you sure you cannt buy it new from a parts store, NAPA, Autozone, etc.? www.ampesperf.com sells them for $5.00 makes me think it is generally available and you dont have to pay what might be an overly inflated price on ebay.

I did buy one from NPD for about $5. I installed but my emergency flashers do not work. Not even sure where to start diagnosing this. The left and right blinkers do work as expected . . jut not the emergency lights. MMMM. where do I start on this? Thanks . . . JIMB

start with the switch, see if you have current coming in and going out. Do you have the wiring diagrams in the Ponitac service manual?
