Hi everyone!
I bought my Sunfire 10 days ago and the engine check lamp is on for 2 days. I checked the oil and coolant water but there seems to be no problem. And it runs well. However I try not to drive so much. Does anyone have an idea about this problem?
Thank you very much for your interest. :)

You need to pull the diagnostic trouble code(s). I've heard that AutoZone will do this for you. Let us know how you make out.

I went to mechanic and made it checked. He examined whole engine and the brain. He said that there had been a sudden misfire problem but it wasn't a continious problem. He reset the code but at the same day's night check engine started to light again. Consequently it's still the same. I think I'll have to buy a scanner to check and reset it by myself instead of going to a mechanic and pay for every easy check and reset process. Any idea??

Seriously, any Autozone will do that for free but what was the trouble code anyway?

Usually an single-cylinder misfire is caused by a fouled plug, bad wire, bad injector or bad coil.

Do a basic tune up (plugs and wires) and pour in some fuel injector cleaner. Then have a parts store erase the code.

:D See if it comes back on and let us know.

...or bad fuel.
Get a bottle of STP Fuel treatment, try another gas station and move up to premium fuel.

Drive a tank of gas like I said and see if it works.
