Hello guys/gals. I have a question about engine enamels. I`m trying to find a Pontiac Blue for my 400 motor. (I do not want the metallic real light blue color) I will have image of color I would like.

I found them on a couple of places. Tell me what kind you like brand wise, and where to get them. I live in Canada so can go to a USA store to pick up.
 
I tend to use the VHT brand for most engine paints
 
Never used a primer, would make sure there is no grease first on the surfaces, Simple Green and water. Normally no maintence is needed, again Simple Green is a good product for the occasional cleaning.

I had my school send the block for machining the other day. When it gets back we are putting it back into a Solvent washer (uses lots of high pressure jets with a chemical to prevent rusting and removes grease) as well as get rid of the metal dust from the machine shop. It will come back and is already spot free.

Have you had trouble with the paint on the exhaust port on heads browing or turning yellowish from the heat?
 
Yes, it does burn near the exhaust ports havent found a solution for that, let me know if you do
 
Sounds like Bill Hirsch paint is fairly good. Up to 700 degrees. This guy in link has a bit of info on the paint. The Bill Hirsch site says to wait 2 weeks for enamel before starting engine up, and says only primer needed is on valve covers/oil pan and aluminum timing covers or something.

The waiting two weeks may be the key to the exhaust isssue.
