Ok so ive taken the pushrods out and inspected them and they are all ok so im not sure what the knock is that im getting? When its running the car will idle at the correct level but there is just a loud knock and not sure what it is? Its a 3.4L automatic with 133,000miles. To me the noise sounds like a thrown rod type noise but rods are ok.

So you pulled the oil pan and checked all the rod and main bearings?

Havent gotten under and pulled the pan yet, Im still working on it from the top

Should i put the top back together and work on it from the bottom?

not sure why you pulled the top apart, but leave it for now and see what's going on in the bottom

Anything specific i should be looking for when i do pull the pan off? I'm a rookie at this.

Too late now but typically you locate a rod knock on a running engine by pulling the plug wire from one cylinder at at time to see which one is causing the knock. Are you using a Chiltons or similar manual as a guide to help you? If so, dont they cover what to look for when checking rod and main bearings? If not do a google search for checking bearings. A wiped bearing typically is pretty easy to spot providing you have a picture to compare it to.
