engine question on a 2008 pontiac torrent?

I bought a 2008 torrent with 10000 miles on it . It came with a 3.4-liter V6 in it . the engine make a ticking noise when running I took it to a dealer and they said the ticking noise is normal for that engine. does anybody know about this problem or is the dealer just telling me what i want to hear?

Mine is doing the same I have an 07 with 22700 and have had no issues with it. no oil consumption, noting at all.

Took my 07 with 28,000 in to have parking brake adjusted and while there had them check the tick. Found out that a lifter had collapsed so they ordered parts and replaced them:
Lifter, gasket kit, bolts, coolant, sealant, oil change w/filter, all under warranty.

I did drive it a day after they diagnosed it and had no problems.

Take yours in and see what they believe, oh parking brake works fine now.
