Engine Sensor?? I need help

I have a 1976 Pontiac sunbird and my car won't start because of this little sensor thing and the left side of the engine by the spark plugs. I need help to know what it is and where i can get a replacement.

the 1976 sunbird came with about 3 different engines, 2 four cylinder and 1 six cylinder. Which engine do you have and how did you determine this sensor is preventing the car from starting?

Its a 2.3L 4 cylinder 2bl carburetor. And my friend accidentally broke it off and the car doesn't even try to turn over. Its like
Trying to start a car on a dead battery.
