I've been entertaining the thought of an engine swap for some time. I've done a little research. I'd like to keep whatever engine I drop in there a V6. Just cause it's humiliating to get beat by a V6 car when you're in a z28. hah. Anyway. I'm lookin to get 300 ish bhp and torque out of whatever engine I put in there. I will through on a supercharger.. possibly twin turbo it. I know my way all around doing the work. I just need an experienced opinion on my options?
Thank you, very much

300HP and staying a V-6, The best engine would be a supercharged 3800 or turbo 3800.
ZZP makes a lot of performance upgrades for these engines which can put you up in the mid 300hp range easily or 400+ if you want max power.
www.westcoastfiero.com sells all the parts to do the swap.
www.gmtuners.com can also assist you with what needs to get done as well as retune the computer for peak performance.

Here is what a turbo 3800 can do:

tranny to engine?

Will the LQ1 by GM mount up to the stock getrag/muncie 282 5sp transmission?

Yes, the 3.4L DOHC engine will bolt right up to any Fiero transaxle.

Just so you know the following engines all bolt right to the transaxle:
3.4L DOHC
The newer FWD 3500,3600, and 3900.
3800
3800SC
Cadillac 4.9L V-8
Cadillac Northstar

Also in case you are interested, The 6-spd manual transaxle (code F40) used in the Pontiac G6's can fit in the Fiero as well and has the same bolt pattern as the Fiero transaxles. These have also been used with high horsepower engines.
