Excessive oil consumption

My 2006 torrent recently started consuming about 2 quarts every 1000 miles or so. I'm leaning towards the EGR valve as suggested by other online research. Anyone else having this issue and any suggestions would ne greatly appreciated.

where did you find a link between excessive oil consumption and the EGR?
do you have a check engine light on?
how many miles on the engine?
have you done a compression test?
you have had the car on a lift and there is no sign of an oil leak?
do you see blue smoke out the exhaust when you first start the car or when you are on the highway doing 55 and let off the gas?

Honestly I don't remember what link it was. But my local shop also did a search and found it. No check engine light, approximately 100,000 miles, no compression test, and no leaks and no burning. The car runs fine, it just uses alot of oil. With it being my daughters car who lives 2 hours away I would like to get this issue taken care of. Thanks

Assuming the mechanic checked/or replaced the PCV, there are only two ways to lose oil a leak or burning. Whether or not there is anything concerning the EGR it can not cause oil to disappear without burning it and I can not find anything related to a bad EGR that doesnt cause the check engine light to come on or rough running. You have an engine with 100,000 miles that may have bad intake valve seals or piston rings which is why you need a compression test to rule out the rings. The other thing you can try is a higher viscosity oil, normal oil is 5W30, try 10W30.

Thanks melsg5! I guess I should have started out small and changed the PCV first and the simple compression test. I just hope the dealer takes the EGR valve back!
