Firebird Trans Am wont rev or accelerate when i press the gas.?

So the Car starts up but turns off like 10 seconds, when i press the gas the engine doesn't even rev or anything. we are thinking the fuel pump or filter. so if you have had this problem or know what this problem might be i would appreciate your opinion or thoughts.

it could be a very weak or low battery or a bad alternator that just drains the juice out of the battery, but you haven't given enough info to get a better diagnosis.

Since the car starts its not the battery or alternator. Start with the fuel filter and then check your fuel pressure at the engine. It could be the pump if the pressure is low or zero.
