Fix emergency brake cables? Easy?

1997 firebird. Just bought it. E brake handle comes clear up w no tension. Took it to Chevy garage. They said main cable broken, another stretched and the third is half broken. They quoted $125 EACH for the cabbles and a total of $870 to replace them! Whats written on my forehad anyway---dumbo loser?

So I find all 3 cables in eBay (God love ebay) for $39. Chevy guy said it was really labor intensive, requiring taking the center consol all the way out, etc.

How bout it? Aside from getting the car up ob blocks so I can skinny under---is this a big job? Thanks. ANy youtube vids on it?

Dont know what your skill level is, if you have done brake work before shouldnt be a problem. You should have a Hanes manual as a guide or try google for a video. You will need access to the console and partially dissassemble both rear brake mechanisms.
