I just bought a 1984 Fiero with an LT1 350 v8.
The car does not handle well since the front suspension swings up and down whenever you accelerate or de-accelerate. Engine weight and too much power is the issue. I guess a modification to the front suspension should be done to improve handling.
What do you recomend?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions

First it is not the front that is the problem, It would be the rear. The rear is too worn and shifts/flexes too much. The easiest way would be to buy a suspension kit from the Fiero Store. These will provide you with performance springs, Poly Bushings and better shocks and struts.

1984 thru 1987 all have the same suspension design. On my 1986 I have a 355hp ZZ4 350 V-8 and I am using the Fiero Store KYB Kit # 2
http://www.fierostore.com/Product/Detail.aspx?s=59004&d=331&p=1

The KYB kit #2 comes with front KYB shocks, KYB rear struts, a heavy duty front swaybar, an add-on rear sway bar, and four Eibach one inch lowering springs. Polyurethane mounting hardware included with the swaybars. KYB's are an excellent street/performance replacement for the factory shocks and struts. They will provide a little firmer ride than factory yet will make handling better. Their self-adjusting quality makes them get stiffer as more load is applied. This kit will give the best street performance handling for the money by reducing understeer and front end "push".

I have also replaced all the control arm bushings with poly and the cradle bushings are poly.
You can buy individual bushings or the entire kit here: http://www.suspension.com/fiero-prothane.html

With this set-up I have no problems at all. I even race on a couple of local road course tracks and it works great. Not too stiff for street driving and not too soft for weekend racing.

The minimum you want to do is change the cradle bushings (too much flex with the original rubber bushings) and some good performance struts. Chances are these items are original or cheap replacements. Since it squats too easily that is why the front swings alot.

Hope this helps.
