Hello hello,

i have a 2000 Montana and I have a bit of a fuel leak. It drips for about 15 minutes after i park. I have to assume that it is leaking while i am driving.

It doesn't leak a lot but I would guess it leaks close to a 1/2 cup of gas a day. I have found the leak and it is coming from a steel (rusted) gas line that is roughly under the gas pedel. It is one of 3 lines that is sticking out about 6 inches from within the van. going towards the back of the van.

the steel line is rusted, but just after small hole or crack is a plastic gas line with some sort of quick connect coupler on it.

I had one shop look at it today and i was told it would cost $650 to have it fixed. I think he wants to replace the entire fuel line front to back. I can't see how long the rusted steel line is as most of it is inside the van with only about 6 inches exposed.

I think this quote is insane. I will not try to do this myself as i will for sure end up in flames. I am just looking for a guesstimate as i have to wait till monday to take it to another shop.

I can possibly have a picture tomorrow if it helps to show what i am talking about.

Thanks

Yea I would definitely get a second or even third estimate ,sounds as if it is your fuel return line ,also I think the brake lines run there also so they all might be rusty .I believe they(dealer or auto parts store) sell the lines with the connectors on the ends for an somewhat easy change.
