Fuel leaking into intake tube

I'd appreciate your help with a problem we had today. My girlfriend's 2005 Sunfire stalled out today. There was fuel pooled up in the intake tube, I drained it and it started up but was running VERY rough and puffing black smoke out of the tailpipe while gas continued to pour out of the intake tube. The fuel is coming from the fuel pressure regulator's vacuum line. The fpr is only a few months old. The car has been hard to start for a couple of weeks and she told me the check engine light came on recently but clicked back off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there is fuel in the vacuum line the regulator is shot.
