Hi, I have a 1984 Fiero SE 2.5. I recently bought it from my neighbor as a project car and all I need now is to get gas to it. I had it running just fine then I did a tune up on it and then the fuel pump went out. I got a new pump, redid the connections and it is still not working. The new pump works fine and I tested the wires and the pump should be getting power no problem. I checked the relays and the fuse and still nothing. I have no idea how it is not working when the connector that plugs into the pump has power getting out and the fuel pump works fine. Please help! ~Thanks

Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump?

Are you sure the wiring is good? Relay? Oil pressure sensor?
Here is a quick test, Remove the cover where the cig lighter is on the console inside the car. You will see the ALDL connector on the left for checking error codes. On one end of the connector is a single pin. ( I believe bottom right if I recall) Apply +12V to the pin and see if the fuel pump turns on. If it does then you have something wrong with the fuel pump relay or the oil pressure sensor.
If it does not come on then you have a bad wire coming out of the tank or your connector at the fuel pump is bad. The wire on the connector bypasses all relays and hooks straight to the fuel pump.

The oil pressure sensor is part of the fuel system. In an accident if the oil pressure drops out, It removes power from the fuel pump so that it will not continue to pump fuel. It is a safety feature in case a fuel line gets cracked during a rear end collision.
It is a relay inside the sensor and can cause problems if bad.

It just magicaly started working the other day. But now a new problem has come up. I drove it around to make sure everything was working fine, after a few minutes of driving around my yard I parked it, and a few minutes later I go back to start it up and nothing, doesnt turn over or anything, this happened before but all the lights, radio, and heat was on and once we turned them all off it started fine. Well this time nothing was on and it still didnt do anything. Had the starter tested and it works fine. Any thoughts? The oil/coolant light is on in the dash, could that have something to do with my problems??? Thanks.

See my post above. If oil light on, Sensor could be bad or oil pump bad.
