fuel pump?

i just purchased a 97 sunfire, 4 cyl., manual. battery is good. won't start, is trying really hard. previous owner had fuel pump replaced about 14 mos. ago. but feels like it is the same problem. i need to know..........
1. where is the fuel pump located? on top of tank?
2. cost for pump?
3. could it really be the connections? seems so simple.
4. o2 sensor? does it have 1 or 2? could that be it?

Fuel pump is inside the tank.

When you turn the key does the fuel pump sound like it's coming on? Fuel pumps usually cost within the $80-$150 range.

will check for sound of fuel pump, in the morning. could it be the connections ? i can't see how even the replacement pumps are all bad! how much of a problem is it to drop the tank? should i replace the o ring too?
