hello, i have a 2002 sunfire gt and my fuel pump does not want to work. what happened was i was driving then i stopped to go to a friends house then when i tried to start the car it didn't want to start so my first idea was the passlock so i turned the key to the on position for 15 minutes and it still didn't want to start so i towed it back and i pulled out the gas tank and i pulled out the fuel pump. i had bought a used pump from the junk yard and i wanted to test it before i put it into the tank so i connected it and i had someone put the key into the on position and i heard the relay going but the pump didn't turn on so i wanted to see if the pump was bad do i connected the pump directly to the battery and it worked. so why doesn't it work on my car? does the pump have to be in the gas tank in order for it to work? it the passlock disabling the fuel pump? also my car has 160'000 km on it

please help i need to go to work on monday
Thank you

Are you sure the relay isnt causing the problem? Even if you hear a click it doesnt mean it's working correctly.

well i did switch the relay from the ac and i knew that worked. what i was thinking about doing is putting everything back where it was and removing the relay and then getting wires from the positive and negative terminals of the battery and just bypassing the relay to see if the pump works and if it does then there is something wrong before the relay and if the pump does not turn on then there is a problem after the relay like a wire has been cut or something like that and if i cant figure it out then i will just have to take it to a mechanic.

You can use a jumper in the relay socket. Jumper the always hot with the wire across from it. If no go, there is a wiring issue somewhere. There should be a fuse somewhere.
