gas gauge broken

gas gauge is stuck on full, could it be the sending unit or the ground wire in the back of dash? is there a definant way to determine the problem cause its on full or it doesnt matter and could be either problem? also heard the needle could be stuck is that possable? just dont feel like ripping everything apart and eliminating the problems

check first that the ground wire isnt corroded

not necessarily on your model car but GM gas gauges in general read high or full when there is a bad ground connection. Make sure there isnt a problem at the sender also with regard to grounding.

where abouts is the ground wire? i cleaned off a few black wires right by the fuse box and now my whole gauge cluster doesnt work and fuel pump doesnt turn on. i checked the fuses already and there all good, and my fuel pump is only 2 years old

did you go back and check whether you broke one of those wires while cleaning them? Did you short anything out while cleaning them? Did you disconnect the battery before working with the wires?
