Gas gauge not moving

I drive a 2001 Pontiac Montana Shorty. Now as much as I would like to believe my gas is never leaving the tank, I can't. The needle isn't moving. It was very irratic lately and now it just stays on full. Does the gas gauge have a fuse or something. Please let me know.

it may have something to do with the sending unit in the tank iirc

if you could give more info does the needle go down when the key is off
