the gas needle on my 2000 firebird is no longer dependable...working sometimes and other times not. is there a way to fix this? how much does it cost?

i have a 1999 and does same thing i noticed when i fill the tank all the way it will work but when i put less it will go crazy.a good why to tell when you are about to run out is when check gages light comes on .but yes does cost alot they have to take the whole gas tank off to fix will run about 500$ are more dep on where you go

you have a short in the wiring from the tank to the gage.If you know a person that can find it.a really cheap fix.a Service station will cost alot more.Good Luck.

The fuel bob is getting stuck. It would require removing it from the gastank. OBDII analysis would be first priority to see if this is normal.....
